In a joint effort by multiple political subdivisions it serves, the Central Lorain County Joint Ambulance District was formed in the late 1990s. With a 3-mill levy that was supported by the voters, the newly formed Ambulance District contracted with Mercy Allen Hospital to manage the EMS personnel. The District's Mission Statement of providing the best possible emergency service at a reasonable cost has been our guiding mission ever since.

The Central Lorain County Joint Ambulance District currently serves approximately 95 square miles, covering over 6 political districts.
